Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC
The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it arrested two suspected bandits during an intelligence-led operation in Saminaka Community, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara.
The suspects, Abubakar Jubril, 28, and Mohammed Abubakar, 26, were apprehended on Tuesday, 3rd March 2026, following sustained surveillance by operatives of the command.
According to the NSCDC, the suspects were among three suspicious individuals sighted in a volatile area.
It said while two were arrested, one suspect escaped and is currently at large.

Items recovered from the suspects included a pistol (Serial No. 7886, Made in USA), a mobile phone, drugs (Tramadol) and cigarettes.
Speaking during the parade of the suspects on Friday in Ilọrin, the Kwara State Commandant, Commandant Bala Bawa Bodinga, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling criminal activities and safeguarding lives and property across the state.
He said efforts were being made to apprehend the remaining suspect.
He warned individuals involved in crime to desist or face the full weight of the law, stressing that the command will leave no stone unturned in apprehending offenders and ensuring the security of residents.
Commandant Bodinga also urged the public to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information that could assist security agencies in maintaining peace.
“The suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation or transferred to the appropriate security agency for further inquiry,” he added. (Daily Trust)
