Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike (MOUAU) has launched its Business School together with the inauguration of the Board of Directors as well as the Management team.
This is even as MOUAU will be inaugurating her 7th and 1st female Vice Chancellor, Professor Ursula Ngozi Akanwa on March 1.
In his address at the event held at the new lecture hall of the University, the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof Maduebibisi Ofor Iwe said the business school was fashioned to be a hub for leadership development, executive education, entrepreneurship and policy engagement.
The outgoing VC informed that MOUAU Business School represents a deliberate shift towards interdisciplinary thinking and practical impact while remaining anchored in the University’s core values of excellence integrity and service.
“It stands as a symbol of continuity, a bridge between what has been built and what is yet to come,” he said.
“It is a seed planted today, whose frurts will be harvested by future generations of scholars, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and leaders.”
Noting that no vision of such magnitude thrives by sustained goodwill alone, Iwe appealed for support to transform the school from promise to global prominence.
Responding, some members of the Governing Board including Dr. Uche Ogah, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu, Abia State Commissioner for Transport; Dr. Kingsley Nwaigburu and Chief Emeka Udeokporo, all pledged to support the Management of the Business School in achieving its strategic objectives and fostering partnerships to enhance visibility, funding, and academic excellence.
Meanwhile, MOUAU is set to inaugurate Professor Akanwa as its 7th and 1st female Vice Chancellor in a ceremony scheduled for March 1.
Prof. Akanwa until her elevation was Deputy Vice Chancellor Research and Development under the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof Iwe.
Prof. Akanwa, a Professor of Educational Measurement and Evaluation, would make history as the 1st female Vice Chancellor of the institution. (The Sun)
