Kaduna House of Assembly aspirant Mubarak Ahmad-Gumi
Mubarak Ahmad-Gumi, son of prominent Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Ahmad Gumi, has declared his intention to contest for a seat in the state House of Assembly in the 2027 general election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ahmad-Gumi said he will be vying to represent the people of Doka/Gabasawa constituency, explaining that his decision followed persistent calls from residents and stakeholders who urged him to step into the race.
He currently serves as a legislative aide to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.
He said his experience at the National Assembly has provided him with practical insight into legislative processes.
“My legislative experience has given me firsthand insight into how laws are shaped, how policies impact citizens, and how vital effective representation is,” he stated.
Highlighting his transition from social media advocacy to active political engagement, Ahmad-Gumi stressed the need to channel the energy and creativity of Nigeria’s youthful population into governance.
According to him, young Nigerians possess the innovation, entrepreneurial spirit and global connectivity necessary to drive sustainable development.
“If we truly want change, we must move beyond online discussions to active political participation,” he said.
He pledged that accountability, accessibility and active listening will define his representation if elected, assuring constituents that their voices will guide his legislative agenda.
Describing the nation’s current political climate as a ‘generational crossroads’, Ahmad-Gumi called for leadership that blends experience with youthful dynamism, adding that youth inclusion in governance should be seen as a constructive process of renewal aimed at strengthening democratic institutions.
