Musawa, Minister of Art, Culture and Creative Economy has unveiled MyCityApp Nigeria a unified digital city infrastructure designed to enhance lifestyle and connectivity of Nigerians, especially in urban centres.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Musawa, alongside other stakeholders, formally unveiled the digital platform at a ceremony on Thursday in Abuja.
The App, developed by MTN, is designed to unify all 36 states and the FCT, connecting citizens to essential services, real-time civic reporting, emergency services, events, restaurants, job openings, smarter urban mobility, and others.
In her speech, the minister said the initiative was a significant leap in Nigeria’s journey toward national digital transformation.
According to her, the App is one-stop shop that will enable both residents and visitors to Nigeria to discover and verify businesses, access essential city services, stay updated on events, navigate transportation and access key locations.
“Today, we are not just unveiling an App; we are unveiling a vision; a vision where technology meets tourism, where government meets people.
“Where businesses are empowered, where cities become smarter, safer and more connected, that is really what this digital infrastructure is all about.
“Everything is becoming very digital, and our cities must not be left behind, as Tourism today is no longer about destinations, but about your experience, accessibility and it’s about safety information at your fingertips.
“MyCityApp Nigeria is a huge deal of change to teach the world about Nigeria, and it speaks directly to the mandate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to promote digital inclusion,” she said.
In his keynote address, Dr Karl Toriola, Chief Executive Officer, MTN Nigeria, said the App was designed to make Nigerian cities smarter, safer, and easier to live in.
Toriola, who was represented by the General Manager, Regional Operations, North West (Sales & Distribution), Mr ThankGod Otorkpa, said the technology was earlier launched in Lagos State, with massive adoption by Lagosians.
He said the new digital infrastructure was designed as a transformative platform designed to power smarter and more connected cities across the nation.
“From reducing travel time and emissions to enhancing citizen participation and improving everyday convenience, MyCityApp demonstrates how technology can meaningfully improve quality of life.
“With MyCityApp, we are moving beyond connectivity as we know it, into an era where technology becomes the engine that drives access, efficiency, and opportunity for every Nigerian.
“As the platform expands across all 36 states, we will continue providing secure, enterprise‑grade infrastructure capable of supporting millions of users,” he said.
He said the technology would make every-day life easy for Nigerians; from finding a business to reporting an issue or navigating traffic. (NAN)
