Gov Zulum
Borno Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, on Monday, performed the groundbreaking ceremony for a ₦1 billion Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Zonal Office and Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre.
The project, sited in the state capital, is designed as a strategic educational hub to serve candidates from across Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states seeking admission into tertiary institutions.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Zulum noted that the investment is a proactive response to the digital shift in national examinations. With JAMB set to transition fully to online platforms in the coming months, the Governor emphasised that Borno must not be left behind.
“We are building this because JAMB is going completely online,” Zulum said.
“We need to provide more computerised centres to ensure our students have the necessary access.
“I believe this facility, once completed, will be a game-changer for the education sector.”
The Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, who joined the Governor for the foundation laying, described the project as a masterpiece of leadership.
He noted that the Minister of Education had already shared reports in Abuja regarding the Governor’s “wonderful” strides in the state.
“This building will be among the best in the country, comparable to what we have in Kano,” Prof. Oloyede remarked.
“What you have done for education, bringing both private and public interests into one basket to solve their problems is the type of leadership this country needs.”
The Registrar, visibly moved by the Governor’s commitment, added that he was honoured to participate in the ceremony.
While laying the foundation stone “to the glory of Almighty Allah and for the service of humanity,” he prayed for the Governor’s continued success in transforming the state.
The ₦1 billion facility Is expected to significantly ease the logistical burden on candidates in the zone while enhancing the integrity and efficiency of the examination process in the region. (Nigerian Tribune)
