The Zamfara State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the brutal attack on Dutsen Ajiya community in Barayar Zaki District of Anka Local Government Area, Zamfara State.
In a statement issued by the party’s state chairman, Hon. Kabiru Garba, the ADC said the attack, allegedly carried out by armed bandits, resulted in the gruesome killing of more than 35 villagers, many of whom were reportedly burnt to ashes, while over 30 others were abducted.
Garba described the incident as a heinous and inhumane act that goes beyond an assault on Dutsen Ajiya community, noting that it constitutes an attack on the entire people of Zamfara State and on humanity at large. He said no community deserves to endure such horror, pain and devastation.
On behalf of the leadership, members and supporters of the ADC in Zamfara State, Garba extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and sympathised with the people of Dutsen Ajiya and the entire Barayar Zaki District over the tragic loss.
He prayed that Almighty Allah grant the departed souls eternal rest and Aljannatul Firdaus, and give the bereaved families the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
The party also condoled with the Anka Emirate Council, His Royal Highness and the entire traditional institution over the loss of their subjects and the disruption of peace within the Emirate. It further sympathised with the Zamfara State Government and the Federal Government of Nigeria over what it described as a condemnable security breach.
Garba added that the party is fervently praying for the safe and immediate release of those abducted, while urging security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue them unharmed and bring the perpetrators to justice.
According to him, the African Democratic Congress remains committed to supporting all initiatives aimed at restoring peace, security and dignity to affected communities. (Guardian)
