ADC Candidate for Chairman of AMAC, Dr Moses Paul
By BONIFACE AKARAH
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Candidate for Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Dr. Moses Paul, has accepted the outcome of the just-concluded chairmanship election, declaring that the movement his campaign inspired “was never built on the fragile foundation of titles.”
In a press statement issued Sunday in Abuja, the ADC chairmanship candidate said that although he believes his campaign earned the people’s mandate, he would accept the results as declared.
“I have reviewed the outcome as announced, and while I hold firmly, based on the engagements, the evidence of our people’s participation, and the overwhelming spirit of our movement, that we earned the sacred mandate of the people, I accept, with peace in my heart and strength in my spirit, the processes as they have been declared,” he said.
Dr. Paul described the election as more than a political contest, calling it “a declaration of dignity by a people who have refused to surrender their future.”
“Today, I stand before you not as a man diminished by an outcome, but as a man enlarged by a movement,” he stated. “A movement born not of convenience, but of conviction. A movement carried not by power, but by people.”
Addressing supporters across AMAC — from Karshi and Nyanya to Wuse and Gui — he expressed gratitude to voters, volunteers and party faithful who participated in the process.
“You did not stand for me. You stood for yourselves. You stood for your children. You stood for justice. You stood for the simple but powerful belief that leadership must be earned, not imposed,” he said.
The ADC candidate commended the leadership and members of the party for what he described as their commitment to principled politics, and also acknowledged the inspiration he draws from Peter Obi, whom he praised for “discipline, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to a better Nigeria.”
According to him, “No force in history has ever defeated an idea whose time has come,” adding that the movement that emerged during the campaign would outlive the election cycle.
“What began here in AMAC will not end here. What was ignited in your hearts cannot be extinguished by any announcement or delayed by any process,” he declared.
Dr. Paul reaffirmed his commitment to the people of AMAC, saying, “I remain committed to you. I remain accountable to you. I remain one of you. This is not the end of our journey. This is the beginning of a permanent awakening.”
He concluded by expressing hope for the future, stating, “One day, a new AMAC will emerge. One day, a new Nigeria will rise.”
