A video suggesting vote buying activities has been captured in PU 009, LEA Lugbe Area of Abuja in the ongoing elections.
In the video captured by BusinessDay, a man can be seen standing beside a parked red saloon car while several individuals approach him in turns, appearing to receive items before leaving the area.
Although the exact nature of what was exchanged in the footage could not be independently verified, the manner of distribution has raised concerns among observers and online users who allege that the act may be linked to voter inducement.
The incident is said to have occurred in Lugbe, a suburb within Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, during the ongoing local government elections in the Federal Capital Territory.
The short clip, which has since circulated widely on social media platforms, shows a small group of people waiting around the vehicle while others take turns to meet the man believed to be coordinating the exchange.
No political party symbols or campaign materials are clearly visible in the footage, and the identity of the individuals involved could not be immediately established.
As of the time of filing this report, the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies have not issued an official statement on the video. (Business Day)
