Before the APC unveiled its so-called “City Boys Movement,” I had long adopted “Writing from my village in Anambra State” as part of my signature and ideological identity.

I was already, proudly and unapologetically, a Village Boy.

And I have absolutely no intention of changing that.

The good thing about being a village boy is this: I am very comfortable with the company I keep in the village. With Peter Obi as my village Headmaster, wetin I lose?

Let the APC “City Boys” enjoy themselves. It is their inalienable right to organise, brand, and celebrate their urban enthusiasm. Democracy allows plurality of expressions.

But the last time I checked, the so-called village boys are still very much in charge of the deeper conversation — grounded in reality, rooted in the people, and connected to the soil that feeds the nation.

The village Is not backwardness.

The village is not weakness.

The village is foundation.

And foundations do not compete with rooftops — they hold the building up.

I remain what I have always been:
