The former Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area, Hon. Ibrahim Gajere, has been found dead after an attack on travellers returning from a burial ceremony in Dogon Noma community, Maro Ward, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred on Monday, February 16, 2026, when armed assailants suspected to be terrorists attacked a convoy of vehicles, setting ablaze the official car of the Executive Chairman of the Council and three other cars.
Following the attack, Hon. Gajere and some others were declared missing, triggering a search by community members and residents.
In a tragic development, his lifeless body was discovered on Wednesday afternoon by villagers who entered the surrounding bush in search of him.
“It is painful to inform you that the body of the missing former Chairman of Kajuru Local Government has been found this afternoon.
“Some people have been combing the forest in search of him when they did not hear from the attackers.
“There were bullet wounds on his body,” the source disclosed in confidence.
The killing has thrown the community into mourning, coming barely hours after another nearby community was attacked the same day, leaving two people shot dead.
Residents have described the situation as devastating and have called on security agencies to urgently step up operations in the Kajuru axis to prevent further loss of lives.
