Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso
The Kano State Government has denied allegations that it plans to prevent former governor and senator, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, from entering the state, describing the claim as false and politically motivated.
The denial follows an allegation by Kwankwaso’s political associate, Buba Galadima, who told an online newspaper that the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had written to the Federal Government requesting that Kwankwaso be barred from entering Kano.
In a swift response, the State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, dismissed the claim as “reckless and unfounded,” insisting that no such communication was made by the state government.
“The Kano State Government has noted with deep concern the reckless and unfounded allegation made by Alhaji Buba Galadima claiming that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf wrote to the Federal Government seeking to stop Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso from coming into Kano State,” Waiya said in a statement.
He described the allegation as false, malicious, and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and create unnecessary political tension within the state.
“At no time did the Kano State Government write to the Federal Government or any authority with the intention of preventing Senator Kwankwaso, or any Nigerian citizen, from entering Kano State.
Such a claim exists only in the imagination of its sponsors and should be treated with the contempt it deserves,” he added.
The commissioner emphasized that Kano remains a peaceful and law-abiding state where the constitutional rights of citizens — including freedom of movement and association — are respected and protected.
Waiya said the Yusuf administration is focused on governance, service delivery, and the welfare of residents, rather than political distractions.
He also criticized what he described as attempts to inflame the political atmosphere through unverified claims.
He called on Galadima to provide credible evidence to support his allegation or withdraw the statement in the interest of peace and political maturity, warning that misinformation from public figures could have serious consequences.
The government reassured residents that it remains committed to peace, unity, and democratic principles, and would not be distracted from its mandate by political provocations. (TRIBUNE)
