Senator Dino Melaye
Former Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye has taken a swipe at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over its opposition to mandatory electronic transmission of election results, despite controlling the majority of states in the country with 31 governors.
Melaye, in a statement shared on X on Tuesday, mocked the party for what he described as fear and insecurity, noting that the APC currently has 31 state governors yet remains unwilling to embrace reforms that would strengthen electoral transparency.
“APC is doing e-registration for members, but doesn’t want e-transmission of results. With 31 governors, dem still dey fear,” he said.
He further alleged that the refusal of the Senate to support the electoral reforms was a sign of an impending collapse within the APC, insisting that votes must count.
“Implosion is imminent and explosion is guaranteed. End of the road. Votes must count,” he added.
Melaye’s remark aligned with growing protests in Abuja over the Senate’s refusal to amend the Electoral Act to transmit election results electronically in real time. (Daily Sun)
