The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Lagos East Senatorial District has called on political appointees, residents, and youths to intensify mobilisation efforts in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
The call was made at a rally organised by APC leaders at the Ikorodu Town Hall in Lagos.
Speaking at the mobilisation event, the Lagos APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, said the cohesion among political leaders in Ikorodu had produced positive results, reflected in the calibre of representatives from the area.
Ojelabi also commended the district for its impressive performance in the ongoing electronic registration of party members and urged stakeholders to sustain the momentum in order to consolidate the achievements of the current administration.
“Ikorodu people are very focused and doing well as shown in the ongoing e-registeration because they are leading which shows they are ready.
“What we are doing now is selling the party after rolling out achievements and to consolidate what the administration has done so far,” he said.
Also speaking, Sen. Mukhail Abiru(APC Lagos -East), said all stakeholders had come together to endorse President Tinubu based on his leadership capacity and bold reform that had yielded positive results.
Abiru described Ikorodu as a progressive community, noting its large voting population, particularly among young people.
He disclosed that the party in the senatorial district had registered not less than 100, 000 new members in the ongoing e-registeration.
“Ikorodu is known to be progressive which is what the president also stands for and we have always displayed it since the regime of late Gov. Lateef Jakande of Lagos state.
“Ikorodu has registered not less than 100,000 new party supporters; we delivered the highest votes in Lagos state during the 2023 general election,” he said.
Earlier, Rep. Babajimi Benson, Chairman House Committee on Defence urged residents to vote massively to re-elect President Tinubu considering his policy and economic reforms which had yielded positive results as confirmed by the world bank.
“We are celebrating our president for his policy which has started yielding results, we have built a hospital and employed more than 200 people,” he said.
He said the essence of the rally was to appreciate the president for his policy reforms, which he noted were beginning to yield positive results.
In their remarks, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye and Bashorun Olorunfunmi, both members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), said the rally was organised to demonstrate solidarity with the APC and support for President Tinubu’s second-term bid, which they said had brought encouragement to party members.
Earlier, Mr Moshood Aro, representing Ikorodu Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly, and Mr Gbolahan Ogunleye, representing Ikorodu Constituency I, said the rally was held to appreciate the president’s inclusive leadership style.
They added that the president’s reform agenda had been commendable and had received validation from the World Bank.
Other speakers, including Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Mrs Bisola Olusanya, Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, and Mrs Adebimpe Akinsola, emphasised party loyalty and sustained grassroots engagement as key to the APC’s success in 2027. (NAN)
