The Association of Motor Dealers of Nigeria (AMDON) Kebbi State Chapter has expressed outrage over the brutal killing of one of its members, Tukur Alhaji Salihu, 45 yrs old, by operatives of the Federal Operation Unit (FOU) of the Nigeria Customs Service Zone B Kaduna, attached to Kebbi State.
The secretary of the association, Shehu Yusuf Bunza, in a statement signed by him, stated the incident, which occurred on February 7, 2026, between 11 am and 12 noon, along Nagari College to Illelar-Yari area, within Birnin Kebbi metropolis, is a stark reminder of the growing concerns of extra-judicial killings and human rights abuses in our state and country.
He added that the association views this act as a deliberate and unwarranted use of force, causing fear, panic, and bewilderment among members and the entire Kebbi State community
“We are particularly disturbed by the fact that this incident occurred in broad daylight, and the perpetrators seemed to have acted with impunity, disregarding the sanctity of human life.”
AMDON Kebbi State Chapter strongly condemns this incident and calls on the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice. We also urge the Kebbi State Government to ensure that justice is served and the rights of the deceased and his family are protected. The statement added.
According to him, the deceased, who left behind two wives and seven children, as well as an aged mother and father, was rushed to the hospital but sadly passed away at midnight, and was buried in his hometown in Argungu. Our condolences go to the family of the deceased, and we pray that Allah grants them the strength to bear this loss.
“We call on the Nigeria Customs Authority to investigate this incident with immediate effect and take necessary actions to prevent such incidents in the future. We also demand that the Kebbi State Government provide adequate compensation and support to the family of the deceased, and ensure that such incidents do not recur.”
The leadership of AMDON Kebbi State Chapter has formally reported this incident to the appropriate authorities and is working closely with them to ensure a thorough investigation.
“We urge all members and the public to remain calm and not take the law into their own hands, as justice will be served.”
We also appeal to the National Human Rights Commission, the Nigerian Bar Association, and other human rights organizations to take up this matter and ensure that justice is served. (Vanguard)
