The Kano State Government has approved automatic employment for medical doctors who hail from the state but are currently working in neighbouring states.
The approval was granted by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, according to an announcement issued on behalf of the Kano State Hospitals Management Board.
The announcement stated that eligible doctors were being encouraged to return to Kano to take up appointments in secondary healthcare facilities across the state.
The statement said this Is part of efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery in the state’s secondary health facilities.
It explained that the government has fully implemented the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) in line with the Federal Government standard, with a guarantee that returning doctors will retain the same grade level attained with their previous employers.
In addition to the salary package, the state government is offering access to the Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF), as well as opportunities for in-house residency training in selected specialties.
The specialties listed include Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), and Obstetrics and Gynaecology, with the assurance that more incentives would be introduced in due course.
