Lethal striker Didier Drogba may be on his way back to the English Premiership – this time to play for Arsenal – if reports in the British press are anything to go by.
One of such reports published this morning by The Sun has it that Arsenal have made enquiries and “want to prise Didier Drogba away from Shanghai Shenhua.”
“The Gunners,” according to the report, “are desperate to find a proven scorer to replace Robin van Persie.”
News Express reports that Arsenal have struggled to find their feet this season after selling Van Persie to Manchester United.
“They have made enquiries with the Chinese club to see if there is a way of bringing the striker, 34, back to London,” The Sun reported about the Gunners’ interest in Drogba.
Ivorian Drogba, who left Chelsea after last season, has sparked an alert among some of Europe’s biggest clubs after it became known that he is unhappy in China after being caught up in a boardroom power struggle at Shanghai.
Drogba, who is believed to be on £200,000 a week, has also attracted interest in Liverpool and Spain’s Real Madrid. It is believed that he may favour a return to England, with The Emirates as possible destination.
