Six members of the same family were abducted in a coordinated attack by suspected terrorists in the early hours of yesterday in Madagali Local Council of Adamawa State.
The incident comes amid renewed Boko Haram activity in parts of the state, with insurgent raids, kidnappings and attacks continuing in rural communities such as Madagali and Hong local councils, leaving trails of deaths, displacement, disappearances and destruction of homes.
Confirming the attack, the Adamawa State Police Command spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said a joint rescue team comprising police and military personnel had been deployed to search for the victims.
He said: “The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed an attack on Gare Village, Pallam District, Madagali Local Council, in the early hours by suspected terrorists, which led to the abduction of six family members and the rustling of livestock.
“Upon receipt of the report, the Command immediately intensified collaboration and deployed additional personnel and operational assets in a joint operation involving the Nigeria Police Force, Troops of 144 Battalion, and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) to the affected area and surrounding communities.”
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Dankombo Morris, has ordered sustained search-and-rescue operations, reinforced patrols and strengthened security presence across Madagali and other border communities to ensure the safe recovery of the abducted family members and to prevent further attacks.
