The former Oyo State Chairman of Parks Management System (PMS), Mukaila Lamidi (Auxiliary), who slumped during trial before the State High Court, is reported to be stable and now okay.

Recall that Lamidi, who was brought from custody to court by Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) officials, on Tuesday, suddenly slumped and fell to the ground while waiting for his case to be called.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that incident caused panic in the courtroom, prompting Justice Bayo Taiwo to immediately halt proceedings in order for the defendant to be adequately attended to.

The spokesman of the NCoS, Oyo State Command, Mr Olanrewaju Anjorin, told NAN on Wednesday in Ibadan that Lamidi was immediately resuscitated before leaving the court premises.

Anjorin said that the former Oyo State PMS chairman was stable and was returned to court on Wednesday for hearing in another case against him.

“If there is any cause for alarm, he will be adequately treated by our qualified medical personnel at the facility.

“But currently he is very fine,” Anjorin said.

NAN reports that Lamidi is being prosecuted on allegations of murder, attempted murder, arms dealing, armed robbery and kidnapping.

The police had on May 30 and May 31, 2023, raided the defendant’s Diamond Hotel residence at Alakia, where 78 suspects were arrested and weapons recovered.

The exhibits recovered from the defendant’s residence and hotel during the raid include two SMG rifles with two magazines, one AK-47 rifle, one pump-action rifle, nine locally-made pistols and two English pistols with magazines.

Others are 70 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, 338 pieces of live cartridges, 62 expended, 13 pieces of 9-mm ammunition, nine jackknives, three axes and 400 pieces of long cutlasses, among others. (NAN)
