Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Interior Minister
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has warned officials of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) against charging citizens more than the officially approved fees.
Tunji-Ojo gave the warning on Tuesday during an unannounced visit to the NIS passport office in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
The minister also emphasised that inefficiency in service delivery will no longer be tolerated while touring the VIP and Children Section of the passport office.
Tunji-Ojo expressed displeasure over applicants waiting long after opening hours before being attended to, despite the section being designated for expedited services.
“So, it means that by 9.30 am, I expect to see at least one or two applicants here because I can see some people waiting downstairs, and our responsibility is to be efficient,” he said.
“I don’t want to hear that you are collecting money for diesel or paper. Nigerians have paid for their passports completely. Serve them diligently,” Tunji-Ojo added. (The Sun)
