Nyesom Wike, FCT Minister
By PHILIP YATAI
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) will enforce ground rent violations, Certificate of Ownership (C of O), and land use conversion fees across the FCT.
Mr. Chijioke Nwankwoeze, FCTA Director of Land Administration, disclosed this after Wednesday’s FCT Executive Council meeting, chaired by the Minister, Nyesom Wike, in Abuja.
He said enforcement will begin next week and include revocation of titles and sealing of defaulting properties.
Nwankwoeze recalled that in 2025, the FCTA reviewed properties in default on their allocated land uses.
He added that some owners have defaulted on ground rent payments, while others have not paid for their C of O.
On land use violations, he explained that certain lands originally allocated for residential use were illegally converted to commercial purposes.
“These actions violate the terms and conditions of the granted rights of occupancy,” Nwankwoeze said.
He noted affected properties are along Aminu Kano Crescent, Adetokumba Ademola Crescent, Wuse 2, Yakubu Gowon Crescent, Area 7, Area 8 in Garki, and other locations.
“The FCTA reviewed these areas, confirmed their current use can be sustained, and converted them according to planning standards.
“Public notices were issued in newspapers, electronic and social media, asking property holders to come forward and pay.
“Letters of conveyance of approval were sent to allottees. Some have paid, others have not.
“Defaulters on ground rents, C of O payments, and land use conversion fees are hereby notified enforcement begins next week.
“So it is left for you to comply or face whatever actions we see necessary,” Nwankwoeze said. (NAN)
