The abducted victim's vehicle recovered by the police
A female teacher in one of the international schools in Ibadan, Oyo State, Folakemi (surname withheld), was on Tuesday kidnapped at Oshin area, along Adebajo Street, New Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State, by gunmen.
Information gathered by Tribune Online revealed that the victim, residing in the Akobo area of Ibadan, was in her vehicle, a Toyota RAV4, on her way to the school where she works when she was blocked by a Toyota Highlander SUV with three armed men, one of them masked, in it.
Another story had it that she was on her way to a church programme.
The masked gunman emerged from the Highlander and went to drag the victim out of her car into the gang’s waiting vehicle, after the occupants sped off through adjoining streets, leaving behind the other female who was in the vehicle with the victim.
They also left with the victim’s personal belongings, including her phones, and those of the other occupant of her vehicle.
Residents of the area, who heard of the incident, said that shortly after, they noticed the arrival of a police team at the scene where the victim’s vehicle was left, with the driver’s door hanging open.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the story.
He said that the Command has activated its intelligence to ensure the abducted victim’s rescue.
The PPRO stated that the Command is collaborating with local security stakeholders, while an investigation had immediately commenced to identify and apprehend those criminals.
He gave the reassurance of the command in taking all necessary measures to resolve the situation, while he urged residents to remain calm and provide any information that could assist in the investigation to the nearest police station. (Nigerian Tribune)
