Hon Ikenga Ugochinyere
The gale of defections that has beset the people’s Democratic party over its intractable leadership crisis is yet to abate, as member representing Ideato federal constituency in the House of Representatives and House committee chairman on Petroleum down stream sector, Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere and his supporters are set to dump the party soon for the Action People’s Party (APP).
Ikenga who stated this at the weekend at his country home in Akokwa in Ideato North council area of Imo State, when hundreds of his constituents paid him a solidarity visit, said that his days as a member of the PDP were numbered .
He also revealed that the member representing Aboh Mbaise/ Ngor Okpala in the House of Representatives, Hon Mathew Nwoguala of Labour Party and Dr Mathew Chima Amadi, the founder/ President of The Mazi Organisation have decided to join the Action People’s Party.
Ikenga Imo said all efforts to rescue PDP failed, blaming the woes of the party on the Umar Damagum led National Working Committee, who he said is Incompetent and is working to ensure that the PDP is destroyed .
Though a large number of his supporters bore insignias of the Action People’s Party (APP), Ugochinyere stated that he will be making a declaration of his new party soon.
Hon Ugochinyere recalled how he was disqualified few days to PDP’s primary in the build up to the 2023 general elections and how members of the party testified against him in the courts.
“It’s time to severe relationship with PDP, unless something magical happens. If not, in the next few days, we will be packing our bags to say bye-bye to PDP,” he submitted.
Ugochinyere also called on the head of security agencies to focus their searchlight on Imo State, alleging his billboards which were approved for erection had all been pulled down in Ideato South after the police attempt to stop a reception in his honour failed.
He urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the Imo situation by calling to order those involved in what he described as attempt to stifle democracy in the state. (The Sun)
