Super Eagles of Nigeria arriving in style
By NICHOLAS OBISIKE
Football enthusiasts in Aba, Abia, have urged the Super Eagles to give the 2025 Africa Cup of National (AFCON) the maximum attention it requires to ensure they do not miss the trophy.
Some of them who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday, urged the Super Eagles to up their game at the 2025 AFCON if they must win the championship.
NAN reports that the Super Eagles on Tuesday lost 1-2 to Egypt in their final pre-AFCON friendly match played in Cairo.
A football enthusiast, Uchenna Adindu, commended the team’s performance against the Pharaohs of Egypt but noted that their finishing was poor.
Adindu urged the technical team to use the best 11 in the first match of the championship against Tanzania, noting that a win in our first match would position the team for a better outing.
Another football enthusiast, Amobi Agundu, expressed optimism in the ability of the team to win the AFCON title and urged the players to always see every of their matches as the final.
“We have the players to do the job but the technical crew need to work more on the defense and finishing to ensure easy transition of the ball from the back to the strikers,” he said.
Also speaking, Ebere Okoronkwo, another lady sports enthusiast, urged the Super Eagles technical team to unleash the team’s best legs, against any opponent to avoid panic play whenever the team went behind.
She reminded the team that millions of Nigeria were expecting a good outing and in turn, celebrating the trophy, as an exchange for their failure to qualify for the World Cup.
Another Super Eagles fan, Obialor Ike, urged the team not to rely so much on Victor Osimhen, to avoid what happened to the team at the World Cup qualifier where the team lost the matches he did not play.
NAN reports that Nigeria will face Tanzania on Dec. 23 and Tunisia on Dec. 27 for the second match, before facing Uganda on Dec. 30, in the final group C match. (NAN)
