Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Thursday congratulated African legend and Juju music maestro, King Sunny Ade (KSA), on his attainment of the remarkable age of 70.
Saraki in a statement by his Special Adviser (Media and Publicity), Yusuph Olaniyonu, in Abuja, described Sunny Ade as a quintessential and evergreen musician who has succeeded in entrenching the Juju music as an international brand.
Saraki said: “Today, I am delighted to join millions across the world in celebrating King Sunny Ade as he marks his 70th birthday. He is one performer whose evergreen music livens up homes and daily make joyful thousands of music lovers across the world irrespective of creed or ethnicity.
“For more than five decades, KSA has dominated the music scene such that kids who were listening to his songs in the 70s are still listening to him now that they are leaders in the political and socio-economic sphere of our country.
“His highly captivating and philosophical lyrics are often irresistible as he renders them with his sonorous voice, accompanied with titillating dance steps, signature guitar tunes and other world class musical instruments.
“I dare say that the ‘King’ is a true gift of God to Nigeria and equally Nigeria’s gift to the world. I salute his dexterity, excellence and inspirational musical career through which he continues to positively impact both present and upcoming generations as well as contributing immensely to nation building,” he said.
While wishing King Sunny Ade many more years of fruitful service to the fatherland, the Senate President urged the Federal Government to tailor some of its intervention measures in the entertainment industry towards encouraging budding talents capable of replicating the strides of one of the world’s musical icons.
