AAC re-elects Sowore as National Chairman

Omoyele Sowore

The African Action Congress (AAC) has held its National Convention in Abuja and re-elected human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, as the National Chairman, alongside other members of the National Working Committee (NWC).

According to the party, the new NWC is part of its drive to strengthen democratic participation and reposition the country for transformative leadership.

In his address, the new National Chairman reaffirmed the party’s commitment to justice and the dismantling of oppressive systems that fuel poverty and insecurity.

Sowore emphasized that the convention was not just a statutory exercise but a practical demonstration of what genuine democratic participation should look like in a country yearning for credible leadership.

He said the party would usher in a new Nigeria, reaffirming the party’s ideological foundation and long-term vision for national transformation.

He noted that the AAC would use the gathering to reiterate its mission to build a nation where governance is transparent, inclusive, and accountable to the masses; where citizen welfare supersedes vested interests; and where the aspirations of ordinary Nigerians guide public policy.

The new NWC was expected to steer the party into its next phase of political mobilization, engagement, and national advocacy as the 2027 general election approaches.

The convention was conducted by the AAC National Convention Planning Committee, chaired by Kayode Babayomi, with Ambassador Umar Y. Abubakar serving as Secretary.

The event was attended by party delegates, stakeholders, media representatives, and observers from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Some members of the newly elected National Working Committee includesd: Pastor Sam Ajeigbe, Deputy National Chairman (Admin); Enefa Georgewill, Deputy National Chairman (South-South); Chioma Ifemeludike, Deputy National Chairman (South-East); Lijofi Victor, Deputy National Chairman (South-West); and John Nicodemus, Deputy National Chairman (North-East).
