Youth leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the South-South geopolitical zone have warned against any attempt to manipulate the 2027 elections in the region, insisting that the polls must be free, fairExecutiveBranc
The youths also pledged to mobilise 30 million votes from the region for the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Rotimi Amaechi, in the 2027 election. ExecutiveBranch
The position was reached at the end of a two-day strategic leadership awakening summit organised by South-South ADC in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Speaking at the event, the National Youth Leader (Female) of the party, Hon. Uloho Obaro, said the summit resolved to embark on aggressive mobilisation aimed at securing a strong electoral outing for the party in the region.
She said the youth wing was targeting 30 million votes from the South-South through sustained grassroots mobilisation.
Obaro warned against any attempt to impose electoral outcomes against the wishes of voters in the region, saying the party would resist actions capable of undermining the democratic process.
She said ADC remained committed to ensuring that the votes of the people count in the 2027 elections.
The Rivers State ADC Youth Leader, Comrade Omiete Yellowe, who hosted the summit, commended the national leadership of the party for endorsing former Rivers State Governor and former Chairman of the Nigerian Conference of Speakers, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, as its vice-presidential candidate.
Yellowe said the choice of Amaechi would inspire greater participation among voters in Rivers State and other parts of the country.
He urged Rivers youths to support the party’s leadership and expressed confidence in the ability of the ADC to make a strong impact in the 2027 election.
He also highlighted Amaechi’s record as governor of Rivers State, describing his administration’s policies and projects as having contributed significantly to the state’s development.
Meanwhile, ADC youth leaders in Cross River and Delta states, Comrade Anase Michael and Mr Ukwanewe Godstime, respectively, described the 2027 presidential election as a major project for the South-South region.
They said the increased participation of youths in the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) had further motivated young members to mobilise support for the party ahead of the elections. (Vanguard)
