Nigerian actor and content creator, Odira Nwobu, is dead.
President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, confirmed the death of Nwobu to BBC Igbo.
Rollas said: “It is true that Odira Nwobu is dead. He died in South Africa.”
According to reports, Nwobu travelled to South Africa for a performance with comedian Chibuike Gabriel popularly know as Untouchable. Fellow actor Ajemba Stanley Chibueze nicknamed Stanley Ontop said that Nwobu returned to his hotel on Sunday morning after a night out and suffered a hypertensive episode caused by high blood pressure. He was said to have passed away shortly after.
A video posted online shows Nwobu enjoying himself at a nightclub hours before the reported incident. Some fans are reacting with shock, saying his final appearance showed no sign of distress.
Nwobu’s death comes months after he survived a serious car accident earlier in 2025.
