The Managing Director of the Hadejia-Jamare River Basin Development Authority, Alhaji Rabiu Bichi, on Friday, received 774 former members of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) who have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rimin Gado Local Government Area.

Speaking at the reception, Bichi described the defectors as “lucky” for making what he called the right political decision and said the APC remains the only party capable of steering Nigeria toward meaningful development.

He cited President Bola Tinubu’s projects in the Northern region as evidence of the APC-led administration’s commitment, stating that more than 18 major projects worth billions of Naira had been completed in Kano State alone.

Bichi added that substantial funds were being released to state governments for development, lamenting that some states were allegedly diverting such resources to other sectors.

He said the Renewed Hope Agenda was already delivering positive outcomes, including economic recovery and strengthened food security through various agricultural programmes.

The managing director assured the defectors that they would be fully integrated and treated as long-standing APC members.

In his address, the leader of the decampees, Mohammad Karofin-Yashi, said they decided to join the party because of the laudable development initiatives of the APC administration.

He added that they were fully convinced that the APC would move Kano and the nation to greater heights.

Karofin-Yashi pledged to secure the support of more NNPP members who would soon decamp to the All Progressives Congress. (NAN)
