2014 World Cup: Super Eagles look set to land in Brazil, draw Ethiopia in final qualifying battle

For Nigeria, the draw couldn’t have been more favourable. This morning, it emerged that the last hurdle on the country’s flight to the Brazil 2014 World Cup is Ethiopia which, though a force to reckon with, is not in the same class with the African champions.

In what is an answer to the prayers of millions of Nigerian soccer fans, the draws for the last stage of the qualifiers done this morning at CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, pitched Nigeria’s against Super Eagles against the Walya Antelope of Ethiopia.

When both sides last met on January 29 at the quarter-final of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations held in South Africa, Nigeria won 2-0 and went on to lift the coveted cup. The Eagles have remained consistent after the championship and are presently in a killer mood.

The draws pitched Ivory Coast against Senegal, Ghana against Egypt, Algeria against Burkina Faso, and Cameroon versus Tunisia.

The matches will be played in October and November to determine the continent’s five representatives at the next Mundial.
