Nentawe, Akpabio arrive venue as Plateau PDP, LP bigwigs decamp to APC

Crowd agog as Plateau PDP and Labour Party bigwigs defect to the APC

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, and other party stalwarts have arrived at Pollo Stadium, Jos, the Plateau state capital, to welcome decampees from various political parties in the state.

The Senate President, alongside his entourage, who arrived the stadium at about 3:30 pm, is expected to receive former governorship candidates from the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), including Retired General John Sura, former governorship candidate of Labour Party (LP), Patrick Dakum, former Senator I D Gyang, and former Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s political adviser, Latep Dabang.

The Senate president is also expected to receive senators, and current members of the House of Representatives into the APC, amongst thousands of members from other political parties.

While receiving the decampees, our correspondent gathered that the Vice President would be expected to reconcile aggrieved members of the APC.

Party faithful at the venue said the event is expected to be a major boost to the APC, with several prominent politicians expected to join the party, adding that the Senate President’s visit is a show of solidarity with the party’s new members and an opportunity to strengthen the party’s presence in the state.

Our correspondent reports that the venue of the event is tied with security personnel including soldiers, police, DSS among others. (Weekend Trust)
