APC Kano Youth Progressives have vehemently condemned the baseless and malicious accusations levelled against the Deputy President of the Senate, DSP Barau Jibrin, by certain politically motivated individuals. Speaking to newsmen on Wednesday, November 12, in Kano, the convener of the group, Hon Muhammad Auwalu, described the allegations as a deliberate and orchestrated attempt to discredit a respected leader.

Hon Auwalu stated: “We are aware of a well-crafted plan to malign the person, office, and character of DSP Barau Jibrin by a group of desperate political jobbers with no credible standing. These accusations appear to stem from the non-confirmation of Engr Abdullahi Ramat as substantive chairman of the National Electric Regulatory Commission (NERC) by the Senate. The ringleader of this smear campaign, Alwan Hassan, must desist immediately from peddling falsehoods.”

He continued: “It is shameful that Alwan Hassan and his cohorts stoop to fabricating claims that DSP Barau demanded $10,000 from Engr Ramat to approve his confirmation. This is not only unfounded but an insult to the integrity of the Deputy Senate President. Furthermore, the mention of the esteemed Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Rt Hon Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, as a stooge or beneficiary is both baseless and disrespectful.”

Hon Auwalu praised Rt Hon Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, highlighting his commendable leadership and dedication to advancing the interests of Kano APC. “Minister Ata has been navigating the complex political landscape with wisdom and commitment, working tirelessly to solidify the party's foundation in Kano. His efforts have positively transformed the political dynamics in the state, ensuring stability and progress,” he affirmed.

Both DSP Barau Jibrin and Rt Hon Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, according to Hon Auwalu, "have shown unwavering dedication to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda. They are committed to working relentlessly to advance this transformative vision, which promises prosperity and growth for Nigeria. As stalwarts of the APC in Kano, they are focused on securing President Tinubu’s successful re-election in 2027".

Additionally, he said: "they are mobilizing strong support to ensure that DSP Barau Jibrin emerges as the next governor of Kano State in 2027, believing firmly in their capacity to deliver impactful governance and continued progress for the state and its people".

Reiterating DSP Barau Jibrin’s unwavering dedication, the convener stressed, “DSP Barau Jibrin remains an honourable public servant who spares no personal resources or energy in championing Kano's development. He has consistently leveraged his influence to bring significant projects and opportunities, including his instrumental role in the achievements of the Northwest Development Commission.”

In closing, Hon Auwalu delivered a stern warning to Alwan Hassan and his group: “These individuals are merely Abuja hustlers with no real political value. Their attempts to sully the reputation of respected leaders like DSP Barau and Rt Hon Musa Ata will not succeed. Kano APC Youth stand firmly behind our leaders.”
