Governor Mutfwang
The Vanguard of the Voice of Reasoning has called on Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State to reexamine his association with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying that the party is a threat to his governance agenda.
The Plateau State based group in a statement issued on its behalf by its chairman, James Buba on Tuesday, said that the factionalisation of the PDP’s Board of Trustees (BoT) has made it clear that the party is now rudderless and beyond redemption making it a risky venture for the governor to project his second term aspiration.
The group spoke following the appointment of Senator Mao Ohabunwa as the chairman of the PDP BoT by the equally factional national chairman of the party, Mohammed Abdulrahman.
“As keen stakeholders in the Plateau project we have watched with shock the unravelling of the PDP at the national level with the latest development being the factionalisation of the BoT. While the PDP has remained united on the plateau as reflected in the harmony that shadowed the recent congresses, we are afraid that the developments in Abuja could hamper the collective aspiration of the majority of the electorate for the sustenance of the good works by the Caleb Mutfwang administration.
“It is on this basis that we are calling on the governor to seek out options in leading his followers on the Plateau towards nourishing their political aspirations given that the PDP has become a dead horse.
“This call is not only for the governor’s good but for the good interest of the people of the Plateau,” the group said.
Concluding, the group charged the governor and Plateau leaders to look beyond recent or past wounds with political actors in other political parties in approaching a new platform to anchor the political destiny of the people.
“For the sake of this proposal, we dare say that the governor should look beyond past hurts with political rivals and rather seek towards healing of all tendencies for what could be the best interest of the people on the plateau,” the group concluded.
