Orji Uzor Kalu, former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North, has expressed confidence that Charles Soludo, the Anambra State Governor of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), will soon join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on Soludo’s re-election, Kalu described the governor as a “progressive,” noting that it was only a matter of time before he aligned with the APC.

“I think after all the court cases, he is a progressive like myself, President Tinubu, and the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio,” Kalu said.

“So, Soludo is a progressive. I don’t see anything wrong with him. He will come to APC, in fact, it is confirmed that he will join APC. He has no other alternative than to come and join us.”

‘I’ll support APC against any other party, even my brother’

The lawmaker reiterated his total loyalty to the APC, saying he would always stand with the party regardless of personal ties.

When asked whether he would support his brother, Mascot Uzor Kalu, against a sitting governor from another party, Kalu maintained that his commitment to the APC was paramount.

“If my brother is APC, I will support my brother. If the Governor is from another party, I will fight against him. It’s very simple,” he said.

“If the Governor joins APC tomorrow, the fight will be easy, and we shall ride together on the same boat. After the contest, we shall become friends. But I will fight for the APC and whoever carries the APC flag.”

Commenting on the wave of defections to the APC and speculations that Abia State Governor, Alex Otti of the Labour Party, might also join the ruling party, Kalu said joining the APC was a personal decision, not one imposed by party leaders.

“Let’s be honest, neither I nor other senators, the Senate President, or President Tinubu have ever forced anybody to join our party,” he said.

“On occasions, I have met with my Governor because he is my Governor, and I have huge respect for him. He is my brother and used to be my banker, but whether he wants to join or not is up to him.”

Kalu affirmed that his allegiance remains firmly with the APC, pledging to work tirelessly to ensure victory for the party and President Bola Tinubu.

“As for me, I will work 100% for the APC. I will campaign in the state and ensure that we secure victory for President Tinubu and every candidate of the APC,” he said. (BusinessDay)
