A suspected armed robber, Mr. Uche Ezeugo, who is already in the net of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Anambra State on Tuesday said that he was forced into robbery to give his late father a befitting burial, and because of the level of hardship being experienced in the country.

Also arrested was his accomplice, Somadina, who also blamed his action on hunger and starvation.
The suspects, who are both indigenes of Agulezechukwu in Aguata Local Government Area (LGA), were arrested at Nanka in Orumba North LGA of the state for allegedly stealing some laptops.
Responding to questions from Journalists, Ezeugo who is in his mid 20s denied being a regular thief saying that hard condition led him into crime.
The two suspects who pleaded for leniency confessed to committing the crime for the first time in their lives.
Commending the DSS for the stride, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sam Okaula, said the collaboration between the police and other security agencies had helped in reducing crime and criminality in the state.
He said the stolen laptops had already been disposed of by the suspects before they were nabbed, adding that they would soon be charged to court after investigation had been concluded.
The Police Commissioner noted that two pump action guns and one locally made rifle were recovered from suspects.
