Herdsmen using weapons are terrorists: Sultan

The attack in Enugu is the latest in a series of attacks by suspected herdsmen after previous attacks in Benue and Taraba states.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, says the Fulani herdsmen moving who are creating violence at different parts of Nigeria are not Nigerians, but foreign terrorists.
Abubakar stated this in his Eid el-Kabir message to the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria.
Nigeria has been plagued with a recent rise in attacks by suspected herdsmen in Benue, Kaduna, Ekiti, Enugu and Plateau states.
The latest attack in Enugu state left at least two people dead.
According to the Sultan, the rampaging herdsmen are foreigners coming into Nigeria to cause a breach of the peace.
“They are therefore terrorists and should be treated as such by the Nigerian security agencies. The Nigerian herdsmen are very peace-loving and law abiding people,” he said.
Abubakar, however, acknowledged that there were problems between the Fulani herdsmen and the farmers, which should only be resolved through dialogue. (TV360 Nigeria)
