One person has been confirmed dead after falling off a moving train at the Post Office area of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
Efforts to speak with eyewitnesses could not yield as they declined to comment.
The incident, however, led to the gathering of symphathisers discussing the unfortunate incident.
One man, who spoke off record, said the deceased was hanging at the entrance of the train around 9AM when he knocked his leg on the rail and fell off the train.
Those around the scene nearly prevented Channels Television’s crew from filming, as they insisted the crew took permission from the railway authority first.
The Station Manager, Godwin Ehinziyore, later identified the dead as a beggar, who boarded the train without purchasing a ticket, citing that as the reason why he was sitting on top of the train.
He added that several announcements were made to dissuade passengers from hanging or sitting on top of the train before the train took off from Lagos en route Kano.
The corpse has been deposited at the mortuary. (Channels TV)
