The former Governor of Anambra State and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, on Tuesday, paid tribute to two distinguished members of the Daughters of Divine Love Congregation, Rev Sr Jane Frances Chioke and Rev Sr Ann Nwosu, during their burial Mass at the Sacred Heart Chapel, Abakpa-Nike, Enugu State.

Obi, who travelled from Lagos to Enugu for the solemn ceremony, described the late sisters as exemplary women who dedicated their lives to advancing health and education, two vital pillars of national development.

Obi, on his verified X handle, extolled Sr Jane Frances Chioke for her outstanding contributions to healthcare, noting her service as Chief Executive Officer of the Faith-Based Central Medical Foundation and as a member of the Management Board of the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital (ESUTH).

“She was a strong voice against drug abuse and counterfeit medicines.

“She worked tirelessly to ensure that healthcare remained compassionate, genuine, and accessible to all.

“Her impact on Nigeria’s medical landscape will never be forgotten,” Obi said.

Speaking on Sr Ann Nwosu, Obi described her as a beacon of humility and dedication in the field of education.

She had served in several leadership positions, including Head Teacher at St Joseph Nursery and Primary School, Okene; Our Lady of Perpetual Help Nursery and Primary School, Makurdi; Holy Family Nursery and Primary School, Kuje, Abuja; and Principal at Holy Ghost College, Okura, Kogi State.

“Sr Ann devoted her life to shaping young minds with love, care, and discipline.

“Her influence went beyond the classroom. She touched hearts and inspired generations,” Obi commended.

To him, both sisters lived lives of selfless service, building systems that improved communities and strengthened the nation’s foundation through education and health.

“Their legacies remind us that true nation-building begins with compassion, faith, and service to humanity,” he added.

He prayed for their eternal rest, saying, “May the Almighty God, whom they faithfully served, grant eternal rest to their gentle souls, and may their examples continue to inspire us toward love, humility, and dedication to the common good.” (The Sun)
