Anambra 2025: ADC’s Nwosu accuses APGA of going rogue, kicks against purported financial donations to Soludo’s campaign by groups, communities

John Chuma Nwosu, ADC candidate in the forthcoming Anambra guber election

The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr. John Chuma Nwosu, has accused the APGA-led government of Governor Chukwuma Soludo of going rogue.

To this end, he cited what he called unprecedented levels of vote buying and public deceit during the recent by-elections in the state.

He said, “At no time in Anambra’s political history have we witnessed such open desperation to manipulate the voting public,” he added. “Governor Soludo does not enjoy the people’s support and does not deserve re-election based on his record.”

Nwosu described as troubling reports of massive donations allegedly made by some groups and communities to the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Prof Chukwuma Soludo ahead of the November 8, 2025 polls.

The ADC flag bearer who spoke to journalists over the weekend on the new trend warned that it raises serious concerns under the nation’s electoral laws, as well as moral and legal questions.

He said, “I’m aware of reports that some groups and towns have made humongous donations to Governor Soludo and APGA in purported support of his campaign. Such donations raise real concerns about compliance with the Electoral Act, morality, and the rule of law.

"While individuals are free to support candidates of their choice, any form of quid-pro-quo arrangement—such as inflated contracts with kickbacks disguised as campaign donations—would amount to corruption and criminal subterfuge.

"There are reports that certain local governments had joined in the donations despite having little to show for the funds received from the federal government.

“If cash-strapped local governments are donating millions to the governor’s campaign, that is a charade and a blatant display of official dishonesty."

While urging the electorate to reject inducements and defend their democratic rights, Nwosu insisted, "Those who sell their votes are selling their patrimony, freedom, and future. Elections should be won by popular choice, not through purchased loyalty. Vote ADC. Vote John Chuma Nwosu — Let the Poor Breathe."

He further revealed appealed to Ndi Anambra to vote for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and restore honesty, fairness, and people-centered leadership in government.
