Anambra Guber: Obidient Movement vows to checkmate rigging, vote buying

Obidient Movement in a press conference

Members of the Obidient Movement have expressed their readiness and mobilization towards checkmating any form of electoral malpractice in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election.

National Coordinator of the Movement, Yunusa Tanko in a press briefing in Awka on Saturday said the Obidient family is fully on ground in every part of Anambra State while they have completed the inauguration of their Polling Unit Commanders across all polling units in the state totaling 5720.

“From Awka, Awkuzu , to Nnewi , and through every community, ward, and village, our grassroots structures are alive, active, and alert.

He said the commitment of the Obidient family is to protect the mandate of the people and ensure that the voice of Anambra citizens is not stolen or silenced.

Tanko stated that that the Obidient Movement is strongly behind the Labour Party candidate, Chief George Muoghalu noting that its Leader, Mr Peter Obi has also reaffirmed his support for the Labour Party candidate

“We have put in place robust mechanisms and digital technologies to checkmate any attempt to rig or manipulate the electoral process. The era when results were written in back rooms is over. This generation of Nigerians, this generation of Obidients, will not allow the old order of electoral malpractice to thrive again.

“We are not just participating; we are prepared, coordinated, and resolute. Our young people, women, professionals, and volunteers are mobilized and trained to monitor every step of the process, from accreditation to vote counting and result transmission.

“Let it be known that the Obidient Movement in Anambra is united, disciplined, and focused. There is no division, no faction, and no confusion. We stand together under one vision, the vision of a New Nigeria that begins from our polling units.”

The group also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain impartial and professional warning that any compromise of the process will be resisted through lawful and democratic means”.

“We also urge all security agencies to ensure that voters are protected and that every citizen can exercise their franchise without fear, intimidation, or inducement”

“To every Anambra citizen, we say this: your vote is your power. Protect it. Use it wisely. Stand firm for integrity, competence, and character. The world is watching. Nigeria is watching. The future is watching. And we, the Obidients are ready .A new Anambra is possible, and together, we will make it happen.” He stated. (Saturday Sun)
