No fewer than eleven persons including three women and a pastor, (names withheld) have been arrested in Nkpor and Ogidi communities, both in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, by the police from Asaba, Delta State, for allegedly stealing 30 children.

The suspects, who were picked following a tip-off in their various locations with the stolen under-aged children, were first detained at Ogidi Police Station before they were transferred to Asaba.

Information gathered byNews Expressrevealed that the Police team from Asaba had spent two days within the state laying siege to arrest the suspects.

Mrs. Miracle Mbonu, a woman whose eleven month old son was stolen from their Eke Nkpor residence where he was left with her nine-year-old sister while narrating her story said, “That day a woman disguised herself as a friend and told my kids that I was her friend and that they should join her to look for me.

“As they joined her, she took them to New Parts Market and from there she escaped with my son after deceiving my daughter that she wanted to buy something for my son.”

Also another woman who pleaded anonymity said that the suspects stole her son at Ogidi and pleaded with the police to help her recover her son.

When the Ogidi Divisional Police Officers (DPO), Mr. Hassan Musa, was contacted, he said that the Policemen who arrested the suspects came from Asaba and not from Ogidi Police Division hence they were the ones handling the case.
