Sheikh Lawan Triumph denies blasphemy allegations before Kano Shura Council

Sheikh Lawan Shuaibu Abubakar has denied allegations of blasphemy over his recent public comments on Islamic traditions related to Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

Speaking when he appeared before the Kano State Shura Council, Mallam Abubakar Lawan triumph said his statements had been taken out of context and misinterpreted by critics, saying that he believes in the Prophet and his teachings.

He said some people took some of his video clips and misinterpreted them, which can instigate the public.

Triumph said, “I believe in the Prophet and his teachings. I believe he is our saviour.

“Those who misunderstood my teachings should please seek the full clips and forgive me. It was not intentional.”

The allegations against the renowned cleric involved comments perceived as disrespectful to the Prophet’s physical attributes, his birth, and his parents.

These remarks have sparked concerns among religious leaders and civil society groups in the state, where religious sensitivities often run high.

The Kano State Shura Council Chairman, Mallam Sa’ad Gidado, advised Triumph to promote peace and unity through his teachings.

Gidado said, “You have a divine responsibility to teach the truth in accordance with the Prophet Muhammad’s teachings.

“Avoid statements that could cause division within the Muslim community.”

Other scholars present advised him to exercise caution in public sermons and consider the impact of his messages on the community.

The council is expected to issue recommendations aimed at promoting peace and religious harmony in the state. (NAN)
