Tinubu orders nationwide training for 3,780 NIMC staff

Abisoye Coker-Odusote, Director GeneralCEO, NIMC

President Bola Tinubu has directed the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to implement a nationwide training programme for its 3,780 employees, covering all staff levels.

In a statement issued over the weekend in Abuja by Kayode Adegoke, NIMC’s Head of Corporate Communications, the initiative aligns with the President’s directive to strengthen capacity across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) for improved service delivery.

The training is currently underway across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

“This is the first time in NIMC’s history that all staff are undergoing structured training in line with a presidential directive,” Adegoke said.

Staff training had previously received limited attention at the Commission. However, since the appointment of Abisoye Coker-Odusote as Director General/CEO, the Commission has recorded significant improvements in workforce development and staff support.

Across state and local government offices, staff have either completed or are currently undergoing training designed to enhance their skills and align their work with national priorities.

In addition to the training, Coker-Odusote has implemented several staff support measures, including the distribution of over 2,500 enrollment devices, a 25–35% salary increase approved by the Federal Government, additional transport allowances, and free staff buses for headquarters personnel.

Employees have credited these reforms with improving morale and working conditions, and acknowledged the DG’s leadership in providing the tools and resources needed to perform effectively.

The training programme is expected to strengthen NIMC’s role in the administration’s digital identity agenda, which aims to improve governance, service delivery, and economic inclusion. (BusinessDay)
