Obi resumes public engagements after brief health break

Peter Obi

Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, has resumed public engagements following a short break on health grounds.

Obi had announced last weekend that he was suspending his scheduled activities within and outside the country after falling ill during a tourism event in Enugu. He revealed that he received medical treatment at a hospital and was advised to rest for at least two days.

Confirming his return in a post on X on Monday, the former Anambra governor said his first engagement was a visit to Maison de Helen (MDH), a luxury fashion brand in Lagos.

“Let me begin by thanking everyone who wished me well during my short time away from engagements on the doctor’s advice,” Obi wrote.

He described MDH as “a living proof of how Nigerian creativity, heritage, and enterprise can resonate on the global stage.” Obi further noted that his visit reinforced his long-standing advocacy for small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) as the foundation of economic growth.

“Looking at the factory today and watching the dedication of the workers, especially in little details, continues to show what is possible if we are committed to moving the country from consumption to production by supporting SMEs,” he said.

Highlighting the role of SMEs as “the backbone of any economy,” Obi emphasized that investing in them could lift millions out of poverty while positioning Nigeria as a hub for creativity and trade. (AriseNews TV)
