The Niger State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Jonathan Tsado Vatsa, has said that the state would not continue to pay AEDC electricity bills until power supply is restored.

Vatsa in the post EXCO briefing made the disclosure while answering questions from journalists yesterday in Minna, said that gone are the era of paying power bills without supply.

He charged the distribution company to immediately distribute pre-paid meters to the public and the people of Niger state to enable them pay for what they consume.

He accused the company of diverting the power generated to other parts of the country they felt more revenue catchment areas to the detriment of Niger State resisted impoverishing the people of the state.

In same vein, the Commissioner of Works and Transport, Hon. Abdulmalik Usman Cheche, told the media over 1,600 Mega Watts generated in Niger state hence agitated for 10% out of electricity generated from the national grid to be distributed to Nigerlites.

Cheche who lamented over the last few months blackout in the state explained that the state government will in due course received payment of grant rent from AEDC for the repairs and replacements of transformers.

Also the Niger state executive council has approved the establishment of Suleja Eco City just like GRA for the expansion so as to decongest Suleja town a plight suffered by residents for several years.

The Commissioner of Land and Housing, Alhaji Zakari Jikantoro, made this known in a post EXCO press briefed yesterday in Government House, Minna, said that this will found a solution to the decongested Suleja town to allowed free flow of traffic.

He noted that the housing estate will be affordable lower, medium and luxury houses for the people of the state hence would commenced landscaping and the State Government will provide all the necessary amenities to the estate.

In another development, the Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Dan Nasara Mallam, disclosed that the State Government will soon set up a high power Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the recent clash between a community and the military in Bosso local government.

Mallam said that the committee would be mandated to ascertain the immediate and remote causes of the crisis that led to the killing from both parties with proper recommendation to avoid future occurrence. (Peoples Daily)
