A 20-year-old man has raped a five-year-old girl to death in Bayelsa.

A statement from the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Asinim Butswat, made available to newsmen on Friday in Yenagoa, the state capital, showed that the suspect, already in police net, hails from the Sagbama area of the state.

Butswat said: “The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested one Timidou Jephther ‘m’ 20 years, of Akedei Community, a riverine suburb in Sagbama Local Government Area, who sexually assaulted one Queen Kaiser ‘f’ 5 years to death.

“The suspect was arrested on the 9th August, 2016. The corpse has been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, for autopsy.

“The suspect is detained at the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department SCIID, Yenagoa. Investigation is ongoing.”
