NBA protests detention of lawyer to Benue militant leader

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Makurdi branch, has threatened to boycott all court sittings if the security agencies in Benue state, fails to release Mr Terfa Jirgba, lawyer to the most wanted gang leader, Mr Terwase Akwaza also known as Ghana.

The chairman of the NBA Makurdi, Mr Emmanuel Agbakor said all efforts to locate the whereabouts of Mr Jirgba have so far proven abortive, as the police is yet to commence investigation into the matter.

Contrary to the claim by the NBA chairman, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Bashir Makama, has stated that Mr Jirgba is currently undergoing interrogation at the Department of State Security for alleged complicity in an ongoing investigation.

Mr Jirgba was allegedly whisked away on Wednesday morning by over 20 unidentified armed men in six Hilux vans. (Channels TV)
