Cocoa House, Ibadan
The Executive Director, Business Development of Odua conglomerate, Yemi Ajao, on Wednesday, said the Cocoa House building had undergone a lot of rebranding within 60 years of its existence.
He stated this on a sideline interview with journalists after the historical release of Baloon to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the building in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Ajao, while commending the initiatives of the government of the Western region, said the building has placed the region on the global map of recognition.
“Cocoa House building, which is the first high-rise building in Africa with 25 floors, was commissioned in 1965.
“It was built within a space of seven years. It is good to note that since it was commissioned, there has not been any record of architectural defects.
“As the management team of Oodua Conglomerate, several measures are being taken to improve on its architectural standard, which include rebranding of all the floors.
“Plan is underway to add one elevator to the four existing ones while other infrastructures are underway to make the place more attractive,” he assured. (PUNCH)
