Late BASIEC Chairman, Ahmed Makama Hardawa
The Chairman of the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission, Ahmed Hardawa, has passed away.
According to a press release issued on Wednesday by the Special Adviser Media and Publicity to Bauchi State Governor, Mukhtar Gidado, said: “With deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss, Governor Bala Mohammed extends his heartfelt condolences over the death.”
The statement revealed that Makama died on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, in Abuja after a brief illness.
Gidado revealed, “Late Alhaji Ahmed Makama Hardawa was a distinguished statesman, an accomplished public servant, and a patriotic Nigerian whose meritorious service to Bauchi State and the nation at large left a lasting legacy.
“He was a former Resident Electoral Commissioner in Taraba and Nasarawa states, where he discharged his responsibilities with unwavering integrity, diligence, and fairness, hallmarks that defined his entire career.”
He maintained that as Chairman of BASIEC, Hardawa played a critical role in deepening democratic governance at the grassroots through the promotion of transparent and credible electoral processes.
“His commitment to the rule of law and institutional development earned him the respect of colleagues, political actors, and the general public.”
The media aide stated that Mohammed describes the late Hardawa as a man of wisdom, humility, and exemplary leadership, whose wealth of experience and service orientation will be sorely missed at this critical time in the democratic journey.
The governor extends his heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission, friends, associates, and the entire people of Hardawa and Misau Emirate Councils.
He prays that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, grant him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his loved ones the strength to bear this great loss.
