Those who have had the privilege of going into Alhaji Aliko Dangote’s personal office must have noticed one bold inscription on the wall, ’Impossibility is nothing’.

Being one of those who have had the rare privilege and having watched him at a very close quarters, his character, habits and life style I had predicted a long time ago that he would continue to be Africa’s richest man till 2050.

In fact, nobody can get half close to him in the nearest future.

My reason for the prediction was based on the inscription, ‘impossibility is nothing’, which as he sits in his office night and day and continues to stare at it, is making him to tread where other business men and women dare to tread. He reason keeps breaking record after record.

One of them being the gigantic Dangote refinery in Lagos, which is one of the biggest privately owned refineries in the world.

The truth is that everything in the world starts with belief.

Whatever you belief in life becomes your guide or your propeller and leading you to success or to failure.

In fact success is impossible without belief.

Those who have succeeded must have believed that they would success.

Let me bring in the story of Henry Ford, the founder of Ford Motors to support my argument on belief.

One early morning many centuries ago, Mr. Henry Ford woke up with a dream. He had a belief that a V8 engine was very possible. He drew the design on a piece of paper and called his team of engineers into his office and discussed the idea with them.

“Mr. Ford, it’s impossible to cast an eight-cylinder gasoline engine block in one piece,” said one of his top engineers.

“Produce it,” Ford replied in a strong voice.

“But you don’t understand, Sir,” they replied, “it’s impossible!”

“Stay on this job until you succeed no matter how much time is required,” Ford demanded.

The engineers were scared.

Some started complaining, “Ford is out of his mind! He doesn’t understand what impossible means! Now we’re all in trouble. We will lose our jobs!

With nothing else to do, they started working on it.

Six months went by…

“I want my V8 motor!” Ford demanded.

Nine months passed… still nothing.

The engineers tried every idea, but the task still seemed “impossible!”

At the end of the first year, Mr. Ford visited his engineers, and again they informed him, “impossible!”

“Go right ahead,” said Ford, “I want it, and I’ll have it.”

The engineers had no way out. They persevered for months until the secret to producing the famous V-8 engine was finally discovered!

When they have produced the V8 engine, that is having done that which they firmly believed was impossible,

Ford called them again and said thus: “Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right.”

So, one can easily see that great minds think alike. Henry Ford and Aliko Dangote believe that impossibility does not exist.

Even late Dr Nelson Mandela once declared that the only impossibility is what you have not done before and that does not mean that it cannot be done.

Eric Thomas also declared that, “When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you’ll be successful”

So it is clear that everything starts with belief.

You have to believe in success before you would succeed. There must be an agreement or if you like harmony between the inside and the outside before anything worthwhile would be achieved.

Even in the Bible Jesus said to the Centurion, let it be unto you according to your fate (belief).

So if you are going through tough times, examine your beliefs, that could be the source of your struggles. You might have like Henry Ford engineers believed in impossibility.

Therefore, to succeed you have to discard those beliefs and start all over again.

So, don’t think that anything is beyond you. Anything is achievable here on earth as long as you belief that impossibility does not exist. Start by turning that which you want to achieve or to become into a habit and before you know it you would see yourself achieving that or becoming that.

Another example is myself. Before I started writing professionally many years ago, I told myself and believed it that I would not be in the business for second place and my book, Dangote’s Ten Commandments on money, became number one finance book in the country.

So, anything is possible as long as you believe and put what you believed into action.
