President Bola Tinubu has appointed Alhaji Ndagi Alhassan as the substantive Registrar of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the appointment was contained via a letter dated 2nd July, 2025 and signed by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate.

The letter indicated that the substantive appointment is for four years with effect from 19th May, 2025.

It added, “The appointment is on such terms of service as may be determined from time to time.

“While congratulating you on such appointment, I urge you to consolidate and improve on the achievements so far made.

“This is in order to justify the confidence reposed in you.

“It is my expectation that you work collaboratively with all the stakeholders to ensure that the council continues to reposition nursing practice and deliver quality services.”

Reacting to the happy development, Alhassan said he felt too elated, adding, “this is one of my happiest days in my life.

“This is because of the trust and national assignment entrusted on me.

“I felt happy and I am highly infected to the minister, whom by his directive has asked me to ensure that the nursing profession is taken to greater heights within my period of service delivery.”

The registrar vowed to work diligently, saying, “I assure him that, by the special grace of God, I will do humanly possible to ensure that the mandate he was given is achieved.”

Alhassan also described Pate as a ”wonderful public servant who takes time to deeply think on any action he would take in the discharge of his national and international assignments.

While pledging total loyalty to Pate, the registrar further promised to work tirelessly to ensure the success of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He added, “This is especially as it regards its focus on health particularly the sustained efforts to stem the tide of the rising maternal mortality in the country.

“So, I will work collaboratively to ensure that the mandate of the minister is achieved.

“Instructively, we will collectively take plausible measures to bring down the disturbing maternal mortality rate in the country.” (NAN)
